About Us
Walter Knabe Studios, Inc. is an art and design studio owned by artist Walter Knabe and operated by Walter Knabe and Laura Corman. Walter opened his studio nearly 30 years ago as a painter in New York City. His paintings quickly morphed into full-scale wallcoverings when he received a request to cover the walls of a high profile New York apartment with his heavily patterned paintings. Since then, his studio has produced high-end wallcoverings, fabrics & other home décor utilizing some of the same screen-printing techniques he developed while working for Andy Warhol.

I really cherish that I am able to do my design and artwork everyday. My hope is that the design I put out into the world will enrich people’s lives and speak to the importance of our humanity. Beyond that, I would like my work to be a reflection of the good in our world and to help perpetuate that goodness.
Laura Corman
I am your connection to the business side of Walter Knabe Studios. My formal title is Studio Director/Designer, a.k.a.-business & aesthetic, yes, you read it correctly, I do both. Titles do not mean much in a business where it is essential to wear multiple hats to achieve a successful outcome when collaborative creativity and solution providing are one in the same. Maybe I am assisting interior designers create custom wallcoverings/fabrics for their projects or meeting with construction managers on historic renovations, either way – each day, I am creating solutions to move things forward. People often ask how Walter and I connected. The answer is clear...as nature would have it. Four years ago we were both reaching for the next level, and found each other. Life has a way of always working out for the best.
